LFF OUTFITS: ROADTESTING MATALAN'S KNITWEAR COLLECTION

Sorry to be a buzzkill y'all - it's time to accept summer is finally over. Looking back over June, July and August, summer '16 was, for me one big adventure. After an off-kilter start to the year, a summer of non-stop fun and carefree abandon was exactly what I needed & I feel so ready for what closing months of 2016 have in store. One thing the season certainly guarantees is falling temperatures, which, if you're a winter dresser at heart like myself - is perversely thrilling. Hence today's post is focussed on knitwear - specifically Matalan's Knitwear collection.

When shopping for knitwear, my main consideration is fit. My tip? Go one or two sizes up. I'm wearing a size 12-14 knit here & my usual size is a 10. Why? Well oversize knits are more flattering as they don't cling, and I think there's something expensive-looking about excess fabric. You can make a bargain high street knit look luxe this way - this Matalan cowl neck tunic is a real steal for £14. Plus upsizing is a sure fire way to make you appear slimmer! WIN.

By the way - the top to toe black thing, it's currently my default. Partly thanks to the fact I'm back working in jewellery in my day job (monochrome makes a really nice backdrop for jewels) and partly because it doesn't show up the dirt which boy there is a lot of in London.

I have to say I'm super impressed with the Matalan winter knitwear collection, there are some nice knits in modern shapes & it goes without saying, being Matalan, they are super affordable. I also own this long sleeve knitted tunic which has the perfect degree of 'slouch' and is a nice light weight knit, ideal for now. Here's more of my favourite styles;

  1. You look great! Your shoes are really nice, I love the heel. I have a jumper from Matalan that has actually served me far better than more expensive ones I own so I'm definitely going to go back there to stock up this winter. x
