LFF CELEBRITY STYLE CRUSH: LILY COLLINS

Who'd have thought that after producing Easy Lover and Another Day in Paradise, Phil Collins would also go on to (re)produce an A-list, fashionista daughter with supermodel good looks? Lily Collins is a rising star in Hollywood, and not only does she have poise, elegance and beauty, she also has a super-stylish wardrobe to boot. 

Collins' red carpet style is unique in that it is quite fashion-forward and bold yet completely feminine and demure. She can pull off full-length and fabulous gowns from leading fashion houses Alexander McQueen and Valentino just as easily as more edgy styles from youthful brands Carven and Marchesa, even throwing a cool leather bomber jacket in the mix from time to time. With her doll-like features and porcelain complexion, Lily has the world as her fashionable feet, and I think it's about time Chanel took notice and made a muse out of the next superstar Collins!

FREIDA PINTO'S WINNING CANNES FILM FESTIVAL 2012 WARDROBE

Freida Pinto receives La Fashion Folie's vote for the chicest wardrobe at the Cannes Film Festival 2012. From Versace to Paco Rabanne to Salvatore Ferragamo, Pinto has selected some stylish European designers for her Cannes looks.

My favourite frock so far has to be the yellow lace Atelier Versace gown which Freida modelled on the red carpet at the 'Rust and Bone' premier; with a thigh-high split, neon hue and peplum detail, this was pretty experimental for classic-dresser Pinto. I also love the old-school Hollywood 1950s feel of the striped Salvatore Ferragamo crop top ensemble which Pinto wore for a daytime press call.

2012 MET GALA: LFF'S FAVOURITE FASHION TRENDS

Is it just me, or was last night's 2012 Met Gala one of the most fabulous fashion-wise to date? The variety of looks was what really did it for me; from full-length, fabulous evening gowns through to chic trouser suits to knock-out flesh-baring mini dresses, there was something for everyone here. Here's some of the key trends that emerged from the night:

Bianca Brandolini D'Adda in Dolce and Gabbana, Carey Mulligan in Prada and Lana del Rey in Altuzarra dazzled in metallics on the red carpet.

Gwyneth Paltrow in Prada, Emma Stone in Lanvin and Victoria Justice in McQ by Alexander McQueen proved fabulous doesn't always have to be full-length.

Coco Rocha wearing Elizabeth Taylor's (yes, really!) vintage Givenchy pant suit, Solange Knowles in Rachel Roy and January Jones in Versace all brought citrus-yellow sunshine to proceedings.

Flaunting some serious plumage were Beyonce in Givency Haute Couture, Cate Blanchett in Alexander McQueen and Kate Bosworth in Prada.

COACHELLA 2012 CELEBRITY FASHION TRENDS

As the first major outdoor music event of the summer season, Coachella tends to set the fashion trends for the forthcoming festivals. So, what are the trends that the bright, young (and downright lucky) things are rocking this season? Here's some of key emerging styles...

 

Barely-there denim cut-offs skimmed the thighs of fashionable festival goer after festival goer. When it comes to pins for Summer 2012, if you've got it- flaunt it!

FLORAL DRESSES ALA MICHELLE WILLIAMS AND ERDEM

Michelle Williams looked adorable when she stepped out in a SS12 Erdem shift dress whilst on the My Week with Marilyn promo tour. Florals are a big trend this season and for the best intepretation of this look on the high street I recommend heading to Oasis, who have gone print-crazy for spring/summer. Although it may not be a carbon-copy of Michelle's sunny shift, this Oasis belted sundress will look great at your summer soirees and has all the charm of an Erdem number without the designer pricetag.

HOW TO DO THE PEPLUM SS12 TREND

One trend I'm very happy to see return for SS12 is the peplum. Unlike the pastel trend (let's face it my clothes are not going to stay pastel for very long in smoggy London), the peplum trend is very wearable and when styled correctly, flattering on all shapes. Here are my tips for making the trend work for you:

• Keep the rest of the silhouette clean and simple- wear your peplum top with a capri pant ala Olivia Palermo or a sharp pencil skirt.
• This is an unashamedly feminine trend so don't be afraid to embrace the peplum in ladylike shades of pink, red and peach.
• Keep footwear sleek and sharp to finish the look- a pointed court is perfect.

PRIMARY COLOURS ON THE SAG AWARDS RED CARPET

One of my favourite trends that emerged from the red carpet at Sunday's Screen Actors Guild Awards was primary colours. Emily Blunt, Michelle Williams and Jessica Chastain rocked bold, bright and beautiful gowns in jewel-like shades of emerald green, ruby red and cerulean blue. All three starlets have delicate, porcelian complexions that looked great against a shot of vivid colour. t also made a refreshing change from all the safe nude and black gowns that seem to have dominated red carpet trends recently.

WAR HORSE PREMIERE RED CARPET REVIEW

There were some great red carpet looks at last night's War Horse premiere. Here's my round up of the outfits that galloped to the front of the fashion race.....

The Duchess of Cambridge scored another style hit in this chic black lace Alice Temperley gown. The waisted shape created curves on her svelte frame, and the luxurious black lace looked very regal on the royal family's newest member.

Young star of the War Horse film, Celine Buckens, looked cute and fresh in this youthful dress from the Victoria by Victoria Beckham range. The range, inspired by cartoon character Emily the Strange, has a lower price point than VB's mainline collection and youthful feel, making it the perfect red carpet choice for teenage starlets like Buckens.

I just love the sapphire colour of this gorgeous Beulah maxi dress on Made in Chelsea's Cheska Hull. This dress is so fabulous it doesn't demand bold accessories, I like the way Cheska has kept the styling simple to let the gown do the talking.

HOLLY WILLOUGHBY'S NEW COLLECTION FOR VERY

Wow! How gorgeous does Holly Willoughby look in this photoshoot for her latest collection for Very? Well the answer is very! Ouch, sorry for the bad pun but I couldn't resist.


What I like about This Morning presenter Holly is that she has her own distinctive sense of style that suits her hourglass figure perfectly. She takes inspiration from vintage 1940's and 1950's shapes when designing her collections because the tea dresses and full-skirted styles from both decades look great on curvier girls. The styling for this shoot is spot-on too, the Marilyn Monroe inspired hair do really suits Holly, she looks like an old school Hollywood screen siren.

X FACTOR'S LITTLE MIX ROCK PERSONALISED JUMPERS

I had serious sweater envy when I spotted X Factor winners Little Mix in these personalised dipdye sweaters.

Good news is, we too can steal the cute-as-a-button Little Mix look, because the girls picked up their jumpers from high street giant Topshop (minus the jewelled name tags). 

I personally would wear the jumpers minus the sequin details, but I'm sure DIY fashion fans will testify it would be easy enough to add your own name tags with the help of some fabric glue and sequins for the authentic Little Mix look.

RED CARPET REVIEW: THE BRITISH FASHION AWARDS 2011

The British Fashion Awards attracted some of fashion industry's biggest and most glamourous players to London yesterday. From Marc Jacobs to Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham to Stella McCartney, all the biggest names in fashion were in attendance. This also meant the red carpet fashion was parade of looks hot off the catwalk, here's Lafashionfolie's red carpet review:

I think Olivia Palermo pulled this Matthew Williamson feather detail mini dress off with aplomb. I especially love how she accessorised her designer outfit with Topshop heels, Olivia is a big supporter of high street fashion (she's frequently photographed wearing Topshop) and isn't afraid to mix high and low end brands to create unique outfits.

Alexa Chung scored yet another fashion hit in this embellished 1960s style Christopher Kane shift. She teamed the dress with a quirky pair of Charlotte Olympia heels, adding an 'unexpected twist' to look in true Alexa style!

Wow I just love this structured graphic print Peter Pilotto dress on Amber Le Bon! I like the way she's kept her accessories simple to let the incredible dress and her super model good looks do the talking.

This dazzling metallic pleated maxi dress by Mulberry looked amazing on Tali Lennox. My only criticism would be that the 60s inspired hair do looked a bit formal, I think soft, relaxed waves would have looked cooler and younger with such a glamourous dress.

I'm sorry Abbey but I wasn't a fan of this suede Giles maxi dress with rivet detail. With the heavy make-up and bright blonde highlights the overall effect was too 'WAG' for me. Abbey is such a gorgeous girl she could make a binliner look sexy, but I'd like to see in something more fashion-forward, like the Matthew Williamson dress Olivia Palermo was pictured in above.
