WHAT I WORE TO LONDON FASHION WEEK

I told myself I wasn't going to attend London Fashion Week this season. As a part-time blogger I have no real reason or entitlement to be there, I just happen to love the whole experience. But having given it some thought I realised I would be really sad to miss out on the whole event - I have attended 10 consecutive seasons now and am yet to feel jaded by fashion. So on Saturday I put on my finery and headed to the new venue - Brewer Street Car Park (more on the venue later…) - for the Jasper Conran show. Here's what I wore:

BACK TO BLACK

Today's outfit post celebrates my love of the dark side; timeless black is one of my go-to colours. I think I'll end up as one of those black devotees one day, it's the uniform of some of our most-loved fashion designers (Vera Wang, Betty Jackson, Gareth Pugh, Alexander Wang, the list goes on) for good reason; black transcends the trends making it a unanimously smart buy.

OUTFIT POST: IN THE NAVY

It's been a while since I did an outfit post, so here's a look at one of the outfits I wore for the small handful of shows I attended during LFW. It was a quiet season for me because my summer was occupied with job hunting, so ticket requests took a backseat. Turns out, it's really enjoyable having a low-key schedule and I've also accepted an exciting new job working in fashion (I can't wait to share more on here when I get started!), so it was worthwhile sacrifice.

I am in a navy mood at the moment, so expect to lots more of it on the blog this autumn/winter, starting with this sleeveless blazer...

WEARING ANNA LOU OF LONDON

As a blogger, there's no bigger buzz than when a brand you're a fan of gets in contact with a request to collaborate. I don't think I will ever become jaded about that aspect of the job. So when Anna Lou of London got in contact recently to ask me to be a brand ambassador, I was a super happy girl. For those of you unfamiliar with them, ALOL is a British jewellery brand which specialises in bespoke pieces. But unlike many jewellers, Anna Lou's monogrammed pieces are affordable, offering a luxe personalised touch at a great price. The brand also retails costume jewels in eye-popping brights manufactured in perspex for a kitsch-chic look. As a brand ambassador for ALOL I was tasked with picking five pieces from the site that reflected my personal style.

LFF CELEBRITY STYLE CRUSH: ZOOEY DESCHANEL

Describing Zooey Deschanel as my style crush is a little bit of a lie, because in reality she's just my crush full stop. And I know I'm not the only straight red-blooded female that feels like this; I've spotted plenty of fashion girls modelling heavy, brunette bangs at the moment that have more than just a touch of the Deschanel about them. Heck, I've just spent two years growing out a full-fringe, but am I tempted!

Bangs aside, Zooey has been making some inspired red carpet fashion choices of late. From show-stopping red tulle Oscar de la Renta to her custom-designed Prada Golden Globes dress (complete with super-fly tuxedo nail art), Zooey adds a breath of fresh air to the Hollywood red carpet. Her signature look is to reference retro 50s and 60s styles, keeping accessories and styling minimal to maintain that modern edge. Which is your favourite Zooey look?

2012 MET GALA: LFF'S FAVOURITE FASHION TRENDS

Is it just me, or was last night's 2012 Met Gala one of the most fabulous fashion-wise to date? The variety of looks was what really did it for me; from full-length, fabulous evening gowns through to chic trouser suits to knock-out flesh-baring mini dresses, there was something for everyone here. Here's some of the key trends that emerged from the night:

Bianca Brandolini D'Adda in Dolce and Gabbana, Carey Mulligan in Prada and Lana del Rey in Altuzarra dazzled in metallics on the red carpet.

Gwyneth Paltrow in Prada, Emma Stone in Lanvin and Victoria Justice in McQ by Alexander McQueen proved fabulous doesn't always have to be full-length.

Coco Rocha wearing Elizabeth Taylor's (yes, really!) vintage Givenchy pant suit, Solange Knowles in Rachel Roy and January Jones in Versace all brought citrus-yellow sunshine to proceedings.

Flaunting some serious plumage were Beyonce in Givency Haute Couture, Cate Blanchett in Alexander McQueen and Kate Bosworth in Prada.
