THE LFF HALLOWEEN FASHION EDIT

With Halloween just around the corner, it's time for the seasonal LFF edit. You need a bit of kitsch around All Hallows' Eve - but some of these buys have mileage post 31st October too. I bought a J W Anderson for Topshop ghost print jumper last year that I wear all year round and I think Forever 21's faux fur bat jacket (no.2) would work as a cool winter cover up. For collectable design classics, you can't go wrong with Charlotte Olympia footwear, I love her pumpkin flats (no.3) and bat motif courts (no.5). Lulu Guinness's Wild Cat Clutch (no.4) is another great designer investment that just happens to work on the Halloween theme. Plus it's payday time, so there's no better excuse to (trick or) treat yourself (see what I did there?! sorry.)

LFF SHOPS: NEW (FASHION) TERM ESSENTIALS

Remember the childhood thrill of packing your brand new pencil case for the first day of term? The only thing that made returning to school after the summer holidays bearable for was the prospect of fresh new stationary. I might not be in education anymore, but I still have the urge to refresh my metaphorical 'uniform' when September comes around.
A good place to start is with a brightly coloured satchel (no.4) to lift your everyday look in that 'fresh out of Harvard' fashion. Smart pens (no.1) will add style to your work desk and if you are a glasses wearer, a pair of new frames can completely change your day to day look. MyOptique recently sent me a pair of London Retro clear lensed frames to review (no.3) which have that stylish come geek-chic appeal. London Retro have just launched their autumn/winter 'Metropolitan' collection which takes inspiration from iconic London landmarks and tube stations - worth investigating if you are hunting for stylish and affordable frames. A new term look wouldn't be complete without brand new shoes - the Charlotte Olympia Kitty flats (no.2) are a playful classic that will see you through autumn/winter. What are your new term essentials?

LFF SS13 TREND ALERT: PLASTIC FANTASTIC

One of the most fun and playful trends this season is fashion’s obsession with transparent materials. Perspex, PVC, vinyl and acetate are the weapons of choice, seen in numerous spring/summer collections in the form of hard-case clutches, transparent heels and sunglasses frames. From Marc Jacobs through to Valentino and Louboutin; some of fashion’s best loved accessories designers have subverted from the classic materials and embraced the plastic and the fantastic.

On the high street head to Kurt Geiger for a luxe take on the trend; PVC strap sandals are embellished with colourful jewels (no.3) and acetate frame sunglasses (no.5) offer the high-end look for less. High street favourite Mango has carried the look through into their jewellery collection with a crystal-detail statement necklace (no.2) that has proved a big hit with the fashion crowd.

Have you tried the plastic fantastic look yet?

LFF STYLES: MONSOON'S SS13 MATHILDE BOHO JACKET

I thought my boho fashion days were over, but Monsoon's SS13 embellished trophy jackets have got me wanting to be Sienna Miller circa 2004 all over again. Featuring ornate prints, delicate pom-pom trims and opulent embroidery my personal favourite, the Mathilde jacket, has a luxe feel that belies it's high street pricetag.

But how should you be styling the bohemian trend for 2013? Personally I'd wear the jacket with modern, contrasting pieces; a wedge trainer looks very Isabel Marant and a perspex clutch bag sharpens the look for evening. A little bit of boho style jewellery will still work though, I've picked out pieces here by a couple of recent discoveries: Sushilla jewels and Clare Hynes. If you like beautiful gemstone jewels then be sure to check out their websites.

Are you happy to see the bohemian look  back for SS13?
