9 OF THE BEST: TEDDY COATS

The big old trend in outerwear this winter is the Teddy Coat trend. For the uninitiated, teddy coats are fuzzy, cuddly and cosy, like your now-deceased childhood bear. I can see why this trend has legs; it’s as cosy and comforting, in essence the sartorial equivalent of a big hug. How to wear? The teddy coat references the seventies trend which is currently HUGE; blue denim and flared jeans are the perfect partners. The best news is that the Teddy Coat trend has infiltrated the high street, there’s a bear for every budget. Here are my favourites:

TIME TO DISCONNECT

Hello my name is Sophie and I am addicted to notifications. My story? From the moment I wake up to the moment I go to sleep I’m pressing refresh on a plethora of platforms. And the addiction isn't limited to my spare time; working in the field of Communications, I’m constantly connected, constantly watching real-time analytics, constantly chasing the next Insta-high. I can trace the obsession back to the moment I acquired my first iPhone upon the break-up of a long-term relationship. The empty void in my bed was filled with virtual distraction and a collection of cookies, and the rest is (browsing) history.

GREAT PLAINS IN PECKHAM

I need to begin this outfit post with a disclaimer - in these photos you will observe my BRF (bitchy resting face) in its full disgruntled glory. Now that I've decided to be a bit more personal in my blog posts, it makes it easier to disclose why. Natasha and I shot these photos in Peckham Rye, South East London. Prior to this I had had some dating app related drama in said location inside Frank's Cafe (South London's best bar IMO, situated on the top of multi-story car park with breath-taking panoramic views of the city).

Come shoot day, I thought I had calmed down enough to return to the scene of the crime - however, my face tells a very different story. As Natasha commented upon returning the shoot edit to me 'You do look pretty angry in most of the pictures'. So I can only apologise - don't be scared. I'm a nice person really. And I have a fierce bag and an amazing new tailored jacket to share with you to counteract all that BRF:

TASK PR AW12 PRESS DAY: MARC CAIN, ASH, THOMAS SABO & MORE

On Wednesday I headed to the Task PR press day to see the Marc Cain, Thomas Sabo and ASH shoes AW12 collections, to name but a few. Here's a few of the pretty things I spotted.

Hot pink and tangerine artfully clashed in the Marc Cain collection.

Love the bold and bright colour palette.

Marc Cain: Animal prints, pops of colour update heritage styles.

Animal inspiration: faux-fur and clashing animal prints.

Marc Cain: Shaggy coats are a key trend for AW12.

Sporty tailoring at Marc Cain.

Bright and beautiful Marc Cain brogues.

Adore this woodland-inspired print on a Marc Cain pencil skirt!

The rose motif is a key theme at Thomas Sabo.

Tamaris' uber cool part brogue/ part brothel creepers.

Sporty high-tops in a plethora of colours at ASH.

Sportswear is a key trend at ASH for AW12.
Love the futuristic metallics in these Kzeniya clutches.

TASK PR PRESS DAY

On Thursday I headed to Soho Gallery for the Task PR S/S12 press day.

On display were the S/S12 collections from Task PR's clients including Marc Cain, Joseph Ribkoff, Ash and Bourne.

ASH

Gorgeous, vibrant colours are abundant in Ash's Spring/Summer range. From bang-on-trend leather high tops through to glamourous platform wedges, the brand has injected a palette of covetable colours into the new season collection.

I'm just in love with the citrine yellow metallic gladiator sandals. A twist on the gladiator sandal for S/S12.
.

I just love a chunky statement heel, and the combination of hot pink and coral suede makes this shoe to die for!

MARC CAIN

I first came across the German fashion brand Marc Cain when I interned in the head office of a mini-multiple womenswear retailer. The company bought lots of lovely pieces from Marc Cain, and as a pennyless intern I coveted the luxurious, chic pieces that dropped in the warehouse once a week. Three years on and I'm still a fan of the label, and the S/S12 collection certainly doesn't dissapoint.

I love this navy blue knitted maxi with chocolate brown leather accessories, it has a very chic, continental feel.

The combination of crisp white with vibrant floral prints looked very fresh. This floral clutch is perfect for summer events, I could see it looking great at the races.

Forget S/S12, these polka dot cropped trousers are bang on trend for A/W11! I want!

I'm a huge fan of leopard print, and I love how the flashes of neon yellow update this sheer top S/S12. This top would look fab with some denim and Ash's citrine yellow leather sandals pictured above.

I loved this summer's flatform trend, so I'm pleased to see them back for next S/S. I love the luxe feel the suede and crocidle print leather bring to this pair.

The combination of a crisp white and forest green in this outfit looked modern and fresh.

What an amazing belt! The star cut work detail makes a simple chocolate brown leather look super-special.
