9 OF THE BEST COOL SWEATERS

Something I love almost as much as a breton tee, is a slogan-number. Sure,  I have plenty of cool t-shirts in my wardrobe [Wildfox and Zoe Karssen make the best], but they spend a lot of time hidden under a jacket. The solution? A statement sweater. The kind of piece I can just throw-on-and-go on a Saturday morning or pair with a midi skirt for dress down Fridays. For the holy grail of cool sweaters, check out Bella Freud, Markus Lupfer and Etre Cecile. Short of cash? No problem - Topshop, M + Co and independent designer Hannah Beth Fincham have you covered. Here's my edit of the best:

Whatever you're doing, don't forget to treat yourself too!

6 OF THE BEST: EMBELLISHED KNITS

I've spotted a little micro trend going on right now for embellished knits, studded with twinkling jewels to decorative effect. There's a lovely sweater/ t-shirt hybrid in Banana Republic right now that I will definitely be purchasing when my bank balance permits (I'm saving for a Macbook and on a strict no-shopping ban) but as the temperature in the UK is rapidly falling, a jeweled knit will make a wise investment for the coming months. I say investment because an embellished sweater is a versatile piece - dress it down with denim or leather in the day and add a dash of brocade for an opulent look after dusk. Which is your favourite?

LFF TRENDS: CUTE CHIC

The trend for all-things cute looks set to continue to be big news for SS13, with high street brands and designer labels alike getting in on the act. In the designer world, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Lanvin and Markus Lupfer are undoubtedly the labels to go to for your cute fix, with Marc by Marc Jacobs' bunny iPhone covers proving a massive street-style hit.  The trend has filtered through into the fine jewellery market too; over at jewellery e-commerce site Astley ClarkeKatie Hillier's playful gold rabbit rings are best-sellers.

On the high-street, my favourite buy has to be ASOS' adorable bunny slippers, that have all the charm of Charlotte Olympia's kitty flats with out the £££ pricetag. That's not to forget Whistles super-cute collaboration with Markus Lupfer, with all lines now in sale- bonus!

LFF LOVES THE WHISTLES AND MARKUS LUPFER COLLECTION

I've been in the full-on festive spirit since previewing the Whistles and Markus Lupfer collaboration at the St Pancras Renaissance hotel last week. And girls I can tell you that this meeting of fashion minds has produced one of the cutest and covetable collections of nightwear and knitwear that I have seen in a long time!

GHOULISH FASHION FOR HALLOWEEN & BEYOND!

Kitsch capes and witches brooms aside, Halloween-inspired fashion doesn't have to be just for the 31st October. Gothic glamour is a key trend this season, with crucifixes, creepy crawly prints and pumpkin hues popping up across the catwalks and high street. Here's my pick of the best pieces online that you will be happy to be seen dead in this Halloween:

SIX OF THE BEST: KNITS WITH WIT FOR AW12

The coolest way to beat the chill this autumn/winter is by donning a witty knit or sweater emblazoned with a topical motif. A knit with wit is a key style for the season (see Burberry's AW12 owl jumper) and if Ashish’s SS13 catwalk was anything to by, the trend will continue well into 2013 too.

Whether you opt for a cute motif or a fun slogan (Markus Lupfer's 'Totes Amaze' sweater is my absolute  favourite!), this trend is all about having fun with your fashion. I've just splashed out of the J W Anderson for Topshop ghost knit (number.6) which was also seen on Alexa Chung recently. And hey if a knit with wit is good enough for Chung, then it's good enough for us!
